Sew Pretty!

Did anyone go to Target and check out the Jason Wu collection?  Well, I did and was slightly underwhelmed.  The pictures online were cute and exactly my style for the upcoming season.  However, most items were not available online and my local store did not have the full collection.  Boo on Wu! (I know it isn't his fault)

Seeing all of the pretty clothes, especially Merona, made me want to max out my credit cards and go on a shopping frenzy.  But, I like to think that I am somewhat level-headed.  I only purchased some super cute shoes and jewelry.  Here is a pic of the shoes...and for only $14.99...check them out!
Now...on to pinning!

Today's pin that inspired me was by Robin at All Things Heart & Home.  She featured a DIY ruffle t-shirt.  I adore ruffles and I love t-shirts!  Sounds like a perfect combination to me.  Well, after reading the directions, I figured it was not a last minute project to take on.  So, I opted to eat more of the amazing sugar cookies from yesterday and take pictures of my own sewing projects.  Don't worry...I will conquer the ruffle tee another day.

I love to decorate and make improvements to my home.  Martha Stewart and Better Homes & Gardens have amazing ideas and I could literally give up every possession I have (except my Beats headphones and iPad) to move into their featured homes.   But, since that will not happen, I have to stick to working hard on my current home.  Decorating is an expensive task to take on and my improvements take 5x longer than expected.  That is why I want to highlight a project that was inexpensive and I completed in a day!

I found these great pictures (and on clearance!) at Target a few months ago for my living room.  However, I couldn't find anything else to match the color scheme.  I headed off to every store I could think of.  Nothing!  There were no pillows, blankets, or other photos/prints that could tie everything together.  What is a girl to do?

Well, as a last chance effort I headed to my local Joann's Fabrics.  I ended up finding the perfect fabric on sale plus coupons.  I quickly ran home and cut out the fabric and began sewing.  The pillows were a perfect match and looked fabulous on my green couch.  There was only one problem -- I had fabric leftover.  So, I did what every other person would do.  I found a way to use every last thread on fabric.  Scroll down to see what I used it for...

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you!  I made curtain ties!  They are perfect and help tie everything in the room together.  It looks like the pillows, pictures, and ties were specifically designed for this purpose.  Major score for me!

I will be adding this idea to Pinterest shortly.  Stay tuned...and happy pinning!
